The New Yahoo ... Purple

Yahoo unveiled its home page redesign recently. Frankly I think Yahoo has other concerns to address rather than its home page design (like competition from Bing), but maybe one goes along with the others.

The new design is a cleaner one, and the presentation of the content is simpler, removing a lot of unnecessary lines and backgrounds. They've relegated the huge and annoying "sign into this Yahoo app" section to the left side nav. They also increased the size of the search field. I'm expecting the next iteration of the page to be one big search field at the rate they're going.

The new page is an improvement, but I don't think they're quite there yet. Click on each of the thumbnails to see the old and new versions.
